Living Legends Foundation Inc. Honors Music, Media, and Entertainment Legends At 2023 Awards Gala in Los Angeles California
On Friday October 6th, the Living Legends Foundation Inc. held its 2023 red carpet Awards Gala at the Taglyan Cultural Complex in Hollywood, CA., hosted by Tammi Mac, KJLH’s afternoon air personality. In celebration of Hip-Hop at 50, The Living Legends Foundation (LLF) honored and celebrated legends in media, music, and entertainment. This year’s awards ceremony opened with words from Living Legend Foundation’s chairman, David C. Linton . Linton stated “ it is the responsibility of veteran music executives to teach and provide the current generation with guidance, support, and opportunities”. Linton also addressed the loss of black executives over the past few years along with the most recent passing of LLF President and former music executive Varnell H. Johnson and music icon Clarence Avant.
The ‘In Memoriam’ video highlighted 50 of 175 industry members who died since the last LLF dinner in October 2022 and paid special tribute to Urban Buzz editor Kevin Fleming, Promotion Executive Harold Childs, music icon Clarence Avant, and LLF President Varnell H Johnson. (Click Here to View Video)One of LLF’s key initiative is to provide annual scholarships to African American students at HBCUs and PWIs. Four of five scholarship recipients attended this year’s award gala. Maximillion Shearod, Yale University in New Haven CT; Jordyn Kaila Isaacs, Hampton University in Hampton, VA; Jazzmin Duncan, Pomona College in Claremont, CA; and Joshua Wilson, University of Southern California in Los Angeles.
