Video editing questions, answered.
When I started there were always more questions than answers — you’re learning something completely alien, of course you aren’t going to have many asnwers. A lot of the time though it was hard to even start to look for answers to some pretty common issues I was having, I thought they were pretty stupid questions initially. But I’ll be clear in this fact, there are no stupid questions. So I’ve found a couple of common Q’s — based off of the search volume from ‘Answer the Public.com — and added some of my own and tried to give my best answers to them.I would say demand has never been higher than it is now. It’s a great time to be a video editor. As the Editing Podcast discussed here, a good video editor is worth their weight in gold to a creator. Editors should see themselves as assets to creators to make them money.
I do have to emphasise, GOOD video editors are in high demand. There is a huge influx of video editors right now, I see so many potential editors asking for work who may not have experience (this is fine as long as they are open to taking initiative to start) or the skills to actually edit things. You can see this through the rise of notable editors in the space, namely Hayden Hillier-Smith who now can really charge whatever he wants to a creator, that video is guaranteed to bang.
