The Biden Administration Funds the War in Ukraine at the Peril of Our Kids
So the spigot that feeds and nourishes the war in Ukraine. Funding for the war didn’t make it in the last appropriations bill. You know, that stopgap thing that keeps the country running for a few weeks while Congress decides on national priorities. Yeah, that thing. For a brief moment, money for Ukraine was not a priority higher than funding relief for Americans.
Some bright minds have noticed that the people of Maui each got $700 for their fire. Some other bright minds have noticed that the people who work in the government of Ukraine will keep getting paid even if the federal government of the United States shut down due to a fight over funding.
You can tell that the priorities in Congress are starting to line up ever so slightly more, with the people of the United States. Sigh. I know it’s hard to believe. It was breathtaking to see that someone in Congress noticed that funding Ukraine is not a life or death priority like giving aid to victims of natural disasters in the United States. And it was a tiny minority of Republicans who turned off the spigot this round.
