How I Reprogrammed My Brain To Start Today
When you strip away the expectations in life, things get simple.
When you let go of the expectations of your parents, friends, teachers and high school peers you’re left in quiet emptiness. You are sat, facing yourself, asking, what is it that you really want from life?
I’ve been thinking lately, maybe one of the hardest questions to answer is that.
Maybe we like to think we know ourselves, that the thing holding us back is the expectations of others, but maybe it’s an easy excuse to latch on to all these expectations because then we can hide in inaction.
I watch a lot of documentaries about death. I’m not sure why, and I don’t suppose it’s very healthy but I do. I can’t help but watch on and feel a sense of intense gratitude.
It changes things you see. I was watching the one other day, two wonderful men had blood cancer. I watched as they valiantly pushed on, rounds of chemo, and drug trials, their bodies bruised and batted from the constant onslaught of medication.
